Lex Paulson teaches at the UM6P School of Collective Intelligence and lectures in advocacy at Sciences Po-Paris. A mobilisation strategist for the presidential campaigns of Barack Obama and Emmanuel Macron, he studied political theory at Yale and Cambridge before earning his PhD in ancient philosophy at the Sorbonne.

He has trained leaders in government and business in over 20 countries, including projects for UNICEF, the European Commission, and the U.S. State Department. His research centres on adaptive leadership and new forms of democracy.

He is author of Cicero and the People’s Will (Cambridge, 2022); co-editor of the Routledge Handbook of Collective Intelligence for Democracy and Governance (2023); and is currently writing a book on lessons from Athenian democracy for our present crisis.

A native of Washington DC, he lives in Paris and Rabat.
