Funding

We are non-profit and non-partisan and have three funding sources:

  • Foundations: We accept grants from foundations who want to support our mission and are non-partisan. Our current funders include Quadrivium Foundation, the Rockefeller Foundation, V.K.Rasmussen Foundation, Evens Foundation and anonymous donors.
  • Own activities: We act as advisors to a limited number of projects on a consultancy basis, and where we receive clear commitments around quality standards in line with OECD Good Practice Principles for Deliberative Processes, and where there is a commitment to institutionalisation.
  • Individual donors: We are a Dutch Stichting with ANBI status (equivalent to 501(c)3 in the US, or a registered charity in the UK). We are able to receive individual donations in the following ways:
  • American friends: Donate to DemocracyNext using Every.org, a tax-exempt US 501(c)(3) charity that grants unrestricted funds to the American Friends Fund set up for DemocracyNext
  • International friends: Donate to DemocracyNext using Open Collective to give directly to our Netherlands-based non-profit Foundation (Stichting)
