Rori is a comparative political scientist with extensive experience in producing policy-relevant research on democratic governance. As Afrobarometer’s Senior Analyst/Methodologist, she develops innovative approaches to public opinion research and analysis aimed at ensuring that data on Africans’ attitudes, preferences, and lived experiences inform policymaking across the continent.
Her research at DemocracyNext will apply a comparative, mixed-methods approach to the study of citizens’ assemblies in Africa. The project examines how design choices and contextual dynamics shaped the effectiveness of past and present assemblies, while generating actionable insights to support policymakers, civil society actors, and funders interested in adopting or adapting these innovative democratic approaches. By comparing cases across diverse settings, her work aims to highlight context-sensitive strategies that enhance the credibility, inclusiveness, and impact of future citizens’ assemblies on the continent.
Originally from Gaborone, Botswana, Rori is currently based in Cape Town, South Africa.
